The NHS only provides prescriptions in specific situations

Unless there are very unusual circumstances, the NHS will not prescribe medical cannabis. Nevertheless, prior to doing that, an assessment would be required.

Medical cannabis may be available via the NHS with a hospital recommendation if you meet certain criteria:

• If you or your child experience frequent, severe, or prolonged episodes of a rare form of epilepsy disorder, you or they may receive a prescription.
• Muscle stiffness or frequent, incapacitating spasms could be symptoms of multiple sclerosis if standard treatment and medication have failed to alleviate them.
• If you’re experiencing nausea, vomiting, or other symptoms of illness as a result of cancer treatments like radiation or chemotherapy, and existing drugs for nausea haven’t helped,

You should visit a private clinic for advice because the NHS rarely writes prescriptions. If you have an illness that the NHS is unlikely to approve of, you may find better luck getting a prescription filled at a private clinic – such as our parter clinic:
